Interview with Luanne Dickson EVERYSTEM

LuAnn Dickson with EveryStem floral software holding beautiful cymbidium orchids

Welcome to this week’s episode!

Do you have a piece of scratch paper that you use for counting your stems for an event? Or maybe you’re a little more organized than me and actually have a spreadsheet? Well, I got one better for you. Welcome EVERYSTEM. I have tried the all-in-one systems, not a good fit for me.

Try it out with my friend code for a free month! Use code: gina@fromthegroundupfloral.com

I came across EveryStem on Instagram. LuAnn is their founder. She knows this stuff cause she is a florist. I mean how many times have you used software made by someone who really doesn’t know floral? It’s not a match made in heaven.

Hopefully, I don’t have to preach how important it is to keep your stem counts in check, but if you need a refresher. It is SO important! Going back to that lesson on how much one stem overage adds up with every single arrangement. You guys even just one rose is like losing a trip to Starbucks! Think of it as just placing a $5 bill in each arrangement going out the door. Overstuffing and having too much overage is never a good thing. With EveryStem, you can work backward, for instance, if you already have the client quoted and you need to build recipes. Or you can work forwards, building the recipes and then quoting the client. Either way, knowing what you’re going to be ordering, amounts, and getting that out of the way earlier than later is such peace of mind. Especially in these times when you might have to build in room for substitutions.

Yes, you do have to put in your pricing per stem, cause that is kind of unavoidable. I have found that it’s way easier in EveryStem. You also don’t have to push save every time!!! It AUTOSAVES you guys! The way you can save your inventory also has a really robust capability. I mean, it works more like a tagging system. So when you search, if you’re like me…and name things with more than one description so it pops up with when I search based on how I’m feeling like describing things today. Or before I’ve had coffee y’all. Example: oh, that PINK flower, it’s a filler, shoot what’s it called. I’m completely spacing. Me: types in pink filler and saves the day until coffee kicks in of course.

I have probably mentioned before, I use Dubsado for my client management. I have talked to the folks there and LuAnn. There may be some capacity in the future to use Zapier (a connecting app program) to connect the two and pull projects into EveryStem, or integrate them somehow. So stay tuned for that if you’re a Dubsado user.
